Can you imagine a life where you:
worry about tomorrow.
make everyone else happy--saying "Yes" to them when you'd rather say "No"?
worry about being the perfect/wife/mother/daughter/friend/co-worker?
experience such things as shortness of breath, an upset stomach or heart palpitations whenever you think about some things, particularly ones which might happen in the future?
But then again, maybe you don't have to imagine that sort of life.
Maybe you're living it now.
Anxiety, on its own, isn't a bad thing.. When you experience anxiety your body reacts in response to a perceived threat. This is what helped us human beings survive in this world.
But anxiety can be overdone. It is possible to feel anxious, even if there is no actual threat present, because our minds can't tell the difference between something that is happening right now and something that your vividly imagine, a future where past negative or traumatic experiences are projected into the future. ("It happened before. It will happen again.")
Too much anxiety gets in the way of you living your life the way you deserve to live it, and can get to the point where you just about freeze up. One of the common ways to overcome anxiety is to medicate, while another is to overhaul your life entirely.
If you want to live a life where you, and not your anxieties rule you, give me a call.
